Cherry Skirt Size 6

Wow...absolutely wow! I impressed myself. Three nights ago I sat looking at facebook and thinking I REALLY need to do something different. I glanced over at my sewing machine and thought, "I have all this nice material that is sitting there doing nothing, why not get a skirt pattern out and start sewing?" So I did...

I grabbed my McCall's M5696 pattern and reviewed it. I chose option A. Since I used cherry fabric, I wanted to make sure that the cherries were sitting up right, and not all jollywhopped and uneven. I did modify the pattern to reflect this. Instead of one big piece for the front skirt, I used the back skirt pattern to create 4 pieces. However, I did cut out the little notches that were for the front skirt, to ensure that I matched the pieces correctly. I had a few challenges, such as sewing the waistband before the zipper and the zipper install itself. All in all, it came out pretty good!

I am glad I went slowly this time to make sure I didn't mess up. I have very few mistakes on this skirt, and I am really proud to show it off. The oldest lit up like a xmas tree this morning when she saw it, so she wore it to school. Nothing says, "I love you" like your daughter wearing something you made. <3
